David Grams Devotional

This devotional is a blog written by David Grams. Every post will be a short read, taking you roughly 10-20 minutes to peruse. It’s a great way to stay connected with David’s heart for this ministry on a more personal level. The blog posts are a valuable addition to the Valiant Ministries International podcast, and add another dynamic to the process of learning God’s Word. The posts will be simple and practical. Our goal is to make anyone who reads the blog feel as if they were inspired by what they read to live as more effective representatives of Christ immediately. At times, posts will consist of excerpts taken from David’s books and sermons.

Heirs of His Kingdom
God has blessed us ultimately with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the power by which we are enabled to do what Jesus did. Our inheritance is an armory of heavenly equipment that we use to destroy the works of the devil here on earth.

What Being a “Christian” Really Means

If you’re going to identify as a “Christian” then make sure you know the calling you have answered and the mission you have accepted.

Guard Your Heart

You heart will be shaped by whatever you allow to enter into your mind. Your eyes and ears are both gateways to your heart, and whatever you focus on and hear the most will determine your heart condition.

Redemption of the Mind

If God forgot your sins, He cannot remind you of them. That leaves God out of the picture. That means only the devil is the one who’s trying to cause you to mentally revisit what happened in the past.

Better than the Mighty

Real men aren’t ruled by their flesh…they rule over their flesh. Weak men are slaves of their impulses; strong men are masters over themselves.

Christ – Our Calling Revealed

Know that you’re here for no other reason than to be conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29), and to see His disciples multiplied all over the world. People need to see Jesus in you!

The Discipline of Courage

Courage is not fearlessness…it’s the faith to take action in spite of fear. In fact, it takes more faith to take action in spite of fear, than it does to take action that carries no fear at all. Why? Because where there’s no fear or doubt, there’s no resistance…and without resistance, there’s no growth.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,to those who believe in His name: who were born, not blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” – John 1:12-13

The Fear of the Lord

It is the whole duty of man to fear God and keep His commands, because the only way we will ever live a life that pleases God and leads to great eternal rewards is if we live with a constant awareness of and diligent obedience to the accountability of eternal judgment.

The Wiles of the Devil

The enemy’s only real power lies in his ability to deceive. If the devil can’t get you to believe a lie, he will have no power in your life. Wrong believing is the source of all bondage, grief, and defeat.

Origin = Identity

Tender boys are being raised in a polluted environment that has made them believe that their identity is a subjective, personal decision…not what it is in truth: an absolute and unchanging reality from God, who declares that we are “created in the image and likeness of God”. Because God is our Creator—our origin—only He can reveal the truth of who we really are.

Be a Man of Prayer

If I were to describe the kind of man that will see a strong, healthy marriage and raise wise, godly children, prayerfulness would definitely be on the top of my list. Why? Because prayerfulness is characteristic of a man who’s made his relationship with God highest priority, and who leads his life as an outworking of his attentive adherence to the leadership of Christ. This is true biblical manhood.

The Purpose of Marriage

However, if we imagine marriage as that treasure chest chocked full of goodies, intimacy with God is the key that’s needed to unlock it. A close, personal relationship with Jesus is the key to unlock everything that God created marriage to be.

What’s Your ‘One Thing’?

There are too many Christians in America today who seek the Lord for what He can give them, at the cost of knowing who He is. There are too many Christians who make God one of the things they seek, but not the one thing they seek.

Are You a Purpose-Minded Man?
Men loosen their convictions and dismiss their responsibility to stand strong when they lose sight of their purpose.

Greatness is to Serve

A godly man does not abuse his authority in seeking his own way, but he uses his leadership influence as an opportunity to love, protect, and nurture those under his care, as Christ has exemplified greatness in leadership in doing the same for us.

Let Your Words Be Few

God doesn’t need to be informed of our problems. We need to be informed of His promises!

Power In Purpose

In every action we ought to ask ourselves, “Is this a step away from the purpose of God, or a step in pursuit of it?” The answer to that question will determine success or failure in your Christian walk.

Our Sword

Don’t dishonor the most powerful weapon that God has given you—the Word of God—by leaving it in a book and not putting it in your heart; that’s like a sword left to rust.

God is a Warrior

This planet depends on the men of God rising up to fight for the cause of God set before them. Next time you get up in the morning and either go to school, work, or even if you have a day off, ask yourself, “Does what I’m about to do contribute to the accomplishment of God’s will for my life?
